May 20, 2010 Hello again to everyone that's been checking out my blog. It's been quite a while. More than three months -- and what's worse I accidentally erased my last few entries. I was working on another site and copied the index page from that site over the one here and unfortunately I had only backed it up to December 1st. That's what I get for just editing the index page on the server instead of using FTP. So all those that missed my cellphone comparison(htc tilt, the IPhone and the blackberry), I guess it's gone forever. Suffice to say that for me Qwerty keyboards rule for business. Iphone is for having fun. Also you may have missed my arrival at the number 1 spot for my name, "Johnathan Robinson" out of between 2,000,000 and 12,000,000 results on Google (depending on the day). Last I checked I was still number one. Thanks Google!!! Hopefully I'll stay there. You know what I think I'm going to bring back Nelly and Baron Davis just for kicks. Anyway now that that's out of the way, it's a new day and alot has happened since then. I figured my little mistake was the perfect reason and opportunity to make a new post. I've really stepped my game up in the realm of internet marketing and I'm very excited about the future. I'm going to just spit out as much as I can because I honestly don't know when I'll make another post. It may be in a week or it may be in a month. So grab a cup of coffee. The thing I have going that I'm most excited about is something brand new I put together that I haven't seen anyone else offering. I can now set you up with a FREE WEBSITE and prepaid debit card. Let me explain how it works or what the "catch" is. The only catch is you have to sign up for the prepaid debit card. There is NO FEE for the card or to set it up. There is also NO INTEREST because it is NOT A CREDIT CARD. Actually if you only want the website and have no use for the debit card you can just destroy it when you receive it because you NEVER RECEIVE A BILL and CANNOT GO INTO DEBT WITH THIS CARD. If you do have a use for a prepaid debit card and plan on using it, it is just $5.95 a month and you are charged only from the money you put on the card. If there is no money on the card, it will just deactivate after a short grace period. So this is why you can never go into debt with it. There is also NO OBLIGATION. You can use it for a week, a month or a year or never at all. Finally there is NO CREDIT CHECK and it does not affect your credit positively or negatively. Those that have had prepaid debit cards know how they work so sorry for being so longwinded but that was for the ones that didn't. Honestly the prepaid debit card for me is not the major thing. For those that already have a bank debit card it can just be a spare card, for emergencies or just for purchases you want to keep seperate from your main bank account. But for me the most important thing is that just signing up for that card allows you to get a website for free. Now for the site. You get the website completely free for one year. Yes, a completely free website! It also has a user friendly interface that will allow even the most inexperienced user to create a nice website. And of course if you don't want to take the time to design it yourself I can design the site for you for a fee. I know it sounds simple but that's it. So if you only need it for one year, just cancel and you don't pay one cent out of pocket. If you do want to renew it is only $66 for the entire next year and any following years. But like I said if you don't want to continue there is NO OBLIGATION. With the website you have UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH and UNLIMITED STORAGE plus all the other bells and whistles you would expect from any modern web hosting company. You also choose your own website name and it is a completely independant site. This is not a subdomain on another site like MySpace or FaceBook, this is YOUR OWN WEBSITE that can be about whatever you want it to be. I challenge anyone to show me a better deal than this because if I see it I'll sign up for it too. But honestly it just doesn't exist. Nothings cheaper than free. I'm not promoting this through a website though. This one is only available through direct contact. So email me at info@johnathanrobinson.com or call me if you have my number. Now for the next opportunity that I'm almost equally as excited about. We all know how big the computer and Information Technology industry is but the Wellness industry is even larger and I've gotten involved with the best wellness company out there. This is the FOURTH FASTEST GROWING COMPANY IN U.S. HISTORY. That's EVEN FASTER THAN MICROSOFT. And of the top ten fastest growing companies it is the only one in the wellness industry and the only one that does not have publically traded shares. This company provides a tremendous opportunity. The reason is simply because it works for treating a wide range of diseases and conditions as well as boosting energy levels. It's now even listed in the Physician's Desk Reference which is probably the most respected guide for the treatment of illnesses used by doctors. The product is Tahitian Noni and it's backed up by science as well as tradition. Honestly though I was already healthy and I didn't get involved with Tahitian Noni because of the health benefits. I got involved because I saw and met people who had made millions marketing it and were having fun doing it. Not only that, the product is helping a lot of people. They were able to do that simply because it works. You don't see any fortune 500 snake oil companies and you don't get repeat business if your product doesn't work. If you'd like to find out more you can visit either of the mini-sites www.juicenoni.org or www.tahitianjuice.net. Just click the big link on the page and you will be redirected. From there you can select from the appropriate link, whether you're interested in Tahitian Noni for it's medicinal qualities or for the amazing business opportunity or you just want to find out more about the science behind it. Of course you can contact me through my email for more information as well. Well that's it for now. See you when I see you. Peace, Love and Blessings J December 1, 2009 Welcome to the next episode. This is going to be a short one. If you're a regular you'll notice the new picture. While on the last picture I said I looked like a reject from the matrix I think now that I've posted this one, I realize I look like some kind of nappy headed genie. Not exactly my vision, but it'll get greater later. Anyway, I didn't see alot of tech news today that caught my interest. The biggest story seems to be that Cyber Monday, out-performed Black Friday. More people than ever are shopping online, so that's more incentive for people like me to put in work. That's about it for today. Peace, Love and Blessings, J November 29, 2009 Ok, I'm back again like its the first time. First you'll notice I made a small change to the name of the blog. It is now the "2012 Virtual Reality Y2K Blog." I just think it has a better ring to it, especially considering all the futuristic conspiracy stuff. Anyway, my new site is finally up so make sure you visit it. Its FATHERS-DAYGIFTS.COM Don't forget the dash! You may be wondering why I would come out with a Father's day gift site at the end of November, but I'm just planning ahead. It usually takes at least a few months to get decent traffic to a website, and this is a somewhat competitive niche so hopefully it will be just in time for Father's Day. It's similar to babakoot.com but it caters to dads. Also believe it or not, people are searching for Father's day gifts on Google all year round. Go figure. It will be a while before the next site, musicindustycoach.com, will be completed (Probably 2 months). I already have a basic page up but it's just basically a page linking to one of my affiliates as a placeholder in the meantime. I have some more crazy cyborg news for you today! Intel has announced that by 2020 they want people to have their chips implanted into their brains. Don't believe me? Here's the link in Popular Science. There has already been a lot of research related to controlling electronic devices with your brain, usually for people to control artificial limbs or help a person make up for what they're lacking in normal body functions. However to have a major company like Intel announce that they are actually making plans to produce and sell a brain chip just to make it easier for a person to interface with computers is something totally different. This chip implant will be designed to control your computer, telephone, TV or almost any electronic device. First off, let me go on record saying I would NEVER let anyone implant anything in my brain. It's a delicate balance up there. One false move and I could be a wide-eyed slobbering mess. Besides that, this thing has so many potential problems I can't see how it would work. I don't think any sane person who already has a fully functioning brain would want one of these. The main worry is for the kids that will be growing up during that time. You know how impressionable kids are. Just imagine your son or daughter failing in school because all the other kids have computers in their brains and your kids don't. The other kids are answering all the questions in class, sending emails to each other's brains and searching Google maps for where they're going to hang out after school. Then even the parents that break down and buy their kids a brain implant have to hear them complaining because they only have the BI3000 while the popular kids have the BI5000. Then they'd have pressure from the teachers too. They couldn't say they forgot their homework. When they go up to the front of the class to have their homework downloaded from their brain they'd hear something like, "I see from your brain scan that you spent the afternoon playing your Brainstation video game or thinking on the phone." It's not just a problem for kids. If you are an adult who would consider getting one of these chips, you'd have your issues too. If your family ever falls behind and you can't pay your cable bill, then you have to worry about somebody coming to your house trying to shut off everyone's brains. If you get pulled over by the police, don't even try to say you didn't know you were going that fast. Once they rewind the footage from your eyes, I mean webcam, they'll see that you actually set the cruise control on 80. Then of course everyone would be taking the risk of getting a computer virus that would turn them into a retard. Plus you can also imagine that you would constantly be getting pop-ups and spam in your brain too. Then if you leave the password to your brain lying around or a hacker figures out how to access your brain, someone could turn you into their slave. Not to mention, if you're the type of person that always likes to upgrade, your head is going to look an apple that some worms got to. LMAO. Ok, I guess I'll stop now. I could go on about this for hours. It would be a nightmare. Peace, Love and Blessings J NOVEMBER 24, 2009 Welcome back. I'm a little mad today. I've been delaying this post because I finished a new website and I wanted to talk about it in my next post. I finished it since Sunday but because of my host's incompetence, I'm delayed and waiting on them to fix whatever mistake they made before I announce it. So this will be short and sweet. What I would like to announce is that I'm going to create an "ARG" or "alternate reality game," for all my viewers. This is something I just learned about but it seems like a good idea. For those that don't know, an alternate reality game is an online mystery game that blurs the line between cyberspace and reality and uses elements that are both on-line and off-line. It's sort of like an interactive mental scavenger hunt. Look for it in about a month. I'll give more details as the release date draws near. Last but not least here is a little news. Most of us over the age of 20 have heard of the Bionic Man or Inspector Gadget. Well here is a real life bionic man with a real life "go-go gadget," complete with remote control. According to an article in the London Telegraph, the man below was given the first cybernetic sphincter. If you don't know what a sphincter is, I'll let you look it up for yourself. Suffice to say I wouldn't want to be posing for that picture. ![]() Peace, love and blessings, J November 17, 2009 Thanks for stopping by. I've been meaning to write something since Sunday, but got into doing some other stuff... then some other stuff. Anyway, there's not a lot of world shaking tech news today but I'll mention something I saw, I think Friday of last week, then saw again yesterday. Internet privacy has been back in the news a lot lately. I even saw a story about a 5 year old that had her identity stolen online because her mom posted pics and info about her. Crazy. Anyway the news is that Google has launched "Google Dashboard" which allows you to go in and see all the personal information Google has stored on you. I went through there and it's really amazing but amazing in a bad way. There were hundreds of pages of my searches and info about me. So of course I went ahead and deleted it. Regardless of all that most of us can probably guess they still have it. They have what is called the "Google Black Box" which is the information they have about you that they won't tell you they have about you. They have now said they will only keep this information up to 6 months now as opposed to the 18 months they kept it before. It's crazy they try to dead an issue before its brought up. They make this big announcement that they will allow you to know some of the records they have on you and erase it if you like. Then in the next breath they're basically saying by the way "we're going to keep other info on you that we won't reveal and use it to make money off you with ads." Then everyone is supposed to be thankful. That's the crazy world we live in. I guess you could think of Google as a virtual paparazzi, only they have billions of cameras and they're not just after all the "juicy gossip" about celebrities. In their favor though, Google is the only company that has released any information like this. You can bet your bottom dollar that MSN and Yahoo are keeping any info they can get their hands on too. So what do you do if you don't want any of your info floating around? Well there is a new search engine called "startpage.com." Supposedly they do not log any IP or personal information. Then of course you can use a proxy, my personal favorite. By using a proxy I can hide my location and watch all the tv shows in the U.S. that are blocked here in Europe. That reminds me the other Google news was the new advances in their translation ability. It's still far from perfect, but it allows the reader to understand the gist. If you notice above I have a little drop down box to translate the blog. So that means if you're somewhere in Africa or Asia reading this I can bore you to death with this crap too. LMAO. Seriously, there was already some translation software out there but it has recently seen big improvement. You could now have a penpal on the other side of the world without knowing a word of their language. If you then pair that with speech recognition and verbalization software, what you get is something very similar to the universal translator on Star Trek, except without the aliens. That does it for today. I'll leave you with this video just for laughs. It's an oldie but a goodie. NOVEMBER 11, 2009 Welcome back everyone, whoever you are!!! As promised today I'm going to talk about Web 2.0. Web 2.0 can mean many different things but here is the meat of it. First and most importantly it means increased user interaction and integration i.e. users can create and change a good deal of the content on the website and draw information from different sources. It is also unofficially a design as well. If you see these sites where everything is rounded off and bubbly looking, this is kind of the Web 2.0 style. Youtube and twitter are well known examples of Web 2.0 sites. Also it has been suggested that one of the goals of the Web 2.0 movement is/should be to minimize the number of sites on the Web i.e. competition to keep the little guys out. More than anything though, Web 2.0 is just one of those fad terms that's overused to make something sound modern. So if you're just now finding out what Web 2.0 is, just play it off. They're already talking about Web 3.0 now, so why not start using that term. It doesn't matter if you don't know what it means, you can just play it off. You can make yourself look like an expert. Technical people will be too embarassed to ask you what it is, because they don't want to let on that they don't know and non-technical people will think its way too complicated to understand and won't ask. Check out the videos below if you need help sleeping. Don't forget to send your questions and comments to info@johnathanrobinson.com. Later. Peace, love and blessings, J Light Viewing Middle of the Road The guy in this video is sick. He loves the internet a little too much. By the end he sounds like he almost worships the internet. I bet he's a Cylon. lmao NOVEMBER 8, 2009 Welcome back to the "Virtual Reality Y2K Blog." Yes, I decided on a name! I was trying to think of something interesting and I thought about all the predictions that we heard up to this point for the year 2000 +. The optimists envisioned a world where we had everything, flying cars, advanced agricultural systems, cures for all diseaseas etc. and what we didn't have in reality we could have in virtual reality. The pessimists envisioned the end of all civilization, massive wars, famine, fuel shortages etc. etc., the whole Y2K scenario. Now, here we are almost in 2010 somewhere in the middle proving the would-be prophets on both sides wrong. And this is a big part of the stuff I want to talk about in this blog. Besides the practical application, tips etc. I want to talk about the past, present and future of technology as it relates to all of us socially, psychologically and financially. So that includes all the hopes, fears and expectations. Which brings me to some tech news. (WARNING--NEWS THAT IS NEW TO ME) First on the light side, I found a new social networking site that makes huge advances over twitter. It's called Cliqset. cliqset. This site allows you to combine twitter and all the other major social networking and bookmarking sites together. You can actually post to twitter and several others simultaneously from there. Those that are familiar with social marketing will love this site. So if you're into social marketing or you just like to share, this can be a great tool that's fun to use. Not quite hoverboards, but its an advancement none the less. Now for the end of the world news. I heard about this a few months ago, but never checked it out until now. DARPA is designing chainsaw weilding, flesh eating robots yes you read that right and I'm not joking. And since this claim sounds so utterly ridiculous and impossible to believe, I have included two extra links just in case you don't believe me. Popular Science Article Atomic Article I have no doubt that in a war situation the military would happily use this robot to power up from a dead body on the battle field. However, to be fair the robot does not exclusively eat flesh, nor is it designed to, and its not any robot that could be a threat to living people. It mearly eats biomass. So that could include plants (the intended food) insects or any other biomass that gets in its way including necrotic flesh. You can see some damage control and perhaps a little more level headed article here. For the flesh eating robot's part they are not going to get caught up in the controversy. They are busy promoting their new website as can be seen here. *I do not not share the views of the flesh eating robots or endorse their tv show* That'll do it for today. For the next entry, I'm going to talk about Web 2.0. Don't forget to send questions and comments to info@johnathanrobinson.com Stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by. This is the second installment of my blog...Hmm, I think I need to come up with a more catchy name than just "my blog"...Any suggestions let me know... Anyway I'll start with a little news. I was looking around for some tech news that wasn't too boring and I found an article about new 3D TVs that will be realeased in 2010. These TVs work with special glasses that have shutters in them that open and close at a high rate of speed synchronized with the telivision. This allows two different images to be shown to each eye at what seems like the same time, to create a 3D effect. That was cool...except one thing. Its not really news. If you already have a computer and a TV you can have the exact same thing in your house right now for less. Now you can have a glimpse into my secret home theatre wish list. Here is the OLD News
This will do the exact same thing on your existing TV by hooking your tv into your computer. The only difference is that NVIDIA uses a box about the size of a golf ball that plugs into your TV's HDMI port and sits on top of the TV. These "New" TV's have just integrated it. With this technology you don't have to watch any special programs but shows can enhance the effect through different filming techniques. It also works with video games. The NVIDIA glasses only cost $200 plus $100 for a graphics card. Compare that with the thousands you'll likely pay for one of these TVs. And the setup with NVIDIA to me would be a lot better. Imagine changing between your computer, and TV, working, watching movies and playing games all on one huge flatscreen that's transmitting the image in 3D. I wouldn't have a chance to leave the house. This is the future that is the present. At the same time this technology is advancing robot pets and even artificial companions are coming to market. By 2015 we'll have full virtual reality in some gyroscope in our living room and robots that act as our personal assistants. By 2020 we will see a new demographic emerge and more and more Americans will see the house next door sold to the nice family of robots. Eventually your boss and all your kids friends will be robots too. Then by 2020 the robots will just sneek into our homes while we're in our virtual reality harnesses and put us in little bubbles like the matrix, for real. LMAO Anyway, If you do plan to get the NVIDIA glasses though make sure you have a TV that operates at at least 120hz; and if you want to use it with your computer make sure both supports HDMI also or you'll have to get an adapter. The only ones that won't work are the Digital TVs from the first few years, though they have a clear picture they only operate at 60hz. Any of the old CRT, big screen projection, and the new digital TVs should be at 120hz or higher though. Ok enough of that. I said I was going to give some tips to create websites easily. There are lots of tools you can use. I'll start off with the easiest and maybe the most fun. Go to Squidoo.com. Squidoo is like a little more adult version of Myspace or Facebook. You can do everything you can do with them and much more. If you want to put up a page with pictures and talk about yourself you can but you can also create a really business focused page and anything in the middle. Best of all, THEY PAY YOU! On Myspace or Facebook you could have 1,000,000 friends connected to your page and the only thing you would have is a warm fuzzy feeling. If a million people visit your page on Squidoo, you'll make a good deal of money and of course it's free to join. You make the page and they split the advertising revenue with you 50/50. If and when your page makes some money you just tell them where you want the check sent. This site is simple enough for any kid to set up and the freedom makes it close to having your own website. Be looking out for my new Squidoo page as well. Next option if you are a little more tech savvy is Joomla. The most difficult part is getting Joomla set up, but once you do, you can make beautiful websites fast and with little knowledge. I believe twitter was even made with Joomla. Joomla is also a free software. Visit the link to check it out. This is another software I'm going to be using more in the future. Then you can of course sign up with a hosting company that has web creator software. I recommend Fatcow.com They are very beginner friendly with good customer service ratings. They also are the cheapest reputable host. If you use thier automated site creator it will allow you to get your feet wet but still not require any programming. I find that some of the other hosts out there, even though they may have some site creator program, are still too complicated for beginners. Then last but not least you have the old fashion way, good ole programming: HTML, PHP, Javascript etc. etc. The great thing is you have 100% control, the bad thing is it takes some time to learn. The secret with HTML though is that its not as hard as you may think. If you go this route, just start with HTML. With just HTML you can do probably 90% of all the visual stuff and link building you see on any site. Then later you can use the others programming languages for increased functionality. Squidoo and Joomla are very Web 2.0 friendly (which I'll talk about more next time) and coding is powerful. If you just want a site to keep up with contacts then there's no need to learn HTML you can use Myspace or Linkedin(business) but if you plan on using a website in conjuction with promoting your business and you don't have a developer on call, I suggest learning some basic HTML. That's a little something to chew on until next time Don't forget to send your questions and comments to info@johnathanrobinson.comPeace, love and blessings J NOVEMBER 1, 2009 Welcome to my blog. You're probably thinking one of two things. Either you're thinking I look like a reject from the Matrix or that I just came from a funeral. Neither one is correct though. Yes that is me above for those who don't know me. I just wanted something black to go with this stars idea I had. Maybe I'll change the picture in the future, but I'll roll with that for now. Now that that's out of the way, thank you for visiting. Let me quickly tell you the purpose of this blog and this website. If any of you have visited this website before you know it was basically a site showing my resume, certifications and some examples of projects I've worked on. That was ok, but maybe a little boring too. So I decided to redesign it and make the focus a blog and just talk about what I want to talk about. I've been getting a lot of tech questions lately, so I thought this would be a good way to answer them and help other people at the same time. So basically what I'll be doing is sharing tech news and resources, answering tech questions and whatever else I find interesting on the web. Let me step back for a second and qualify "answering tech questions" though. If you work for NASA or you're Bill Gates' right hand man I probably can't help you. Also asking me to build a page for you does not count as a tech question. But if you're a beginner or intermediate maybe I can help and I'll also share some of the templates I use to make your job easier. I'll be learning too as I answer questions. As the saying goes, "He who teaches learns twice." The plan is to update this blog at least two or three times a week. I'm also open to any suggestions for the blog/site as well. For those that are interested in seeing the resume, projects and previous content that was here, that will be made available again soon, but I am redesigning the entire site. The other big news is the launch of my new website BABAKOOT.COM!!! I've designed a few sites before but babakoot.com is a new beginning because of the things I incorporated (i.e. CSS, SSI, php and mySQL) and the SEO techniques I used. If you don't know what those things mean come back soon. My next post is going to talk about basic tools for building a website EASILY. Don't forget to bookmark this page, and tell your friends and strangers. Peace Love and Blessings,J
